Honda Slams Lie of €100M Marc Marquez Offer
Honda has vehemently denied claims that they offered Marc Marquez a colossal €100 million, four-year deal to prevent him from leaving for Ducati. Honda team boss Alberto Puig called the reports "a pure lie" and "totally false," emphasizing that Honda never attempted to keep Marquez with money.
Puig stated that Honda understood Marquez needed to be free to pursue a winning bike, and neither Marquez asked for anything nor did Honda demand any consideration. He reiterated that Marquez's remaining year on his contract was never an issue, and "there was no offer, that is a lie. Marc didn't want money, he wanted a winning bike."
Marquez has since thrived at Ducati, leading the MotoGP standings in 2025. Puig acknowledged Marquez's success, stating it's no surprise given his talent. He also dismissed comparisons of bike data, asserting that everyone knew Marquez would be at the front with a competitive machine.
While Ducati continues to dominate, Honda showed signs of a comeback with LCR Honda's Johann Zarco brilliantly winning the recent French MotoGP, indicating Honda is on the mend.
